![]() However, the film’s younger demographic may beg to differ. Unfortunately, though, for every joke that lands, two fail to take off or are often too silly to be funny. Exposition is generally masked with humour – a commendable effort in the writing department. Some parts of the film look more ‘finished’ than others, but there are also shifts in tone and pace. There’s a perceptible difference in how this entry feels, which has a lot to do with studio developments behind-the-scenes. It certainly helps that Simon Pegg returns to voice the character and infuses the weasel with an infectious energy that captures some of the magic of the first few films in this franchise. Things change gears once Buckminster ‘Buck’ Wild shows up with his bunch of imaginary friends. This leads to numerous hijinks as the two constantly get into trouble. To quote Buck in the film, ‘What they lack in intelligence, they make up for in bumbling ineptitude’. The quirky, admittedly immature duo are ill-equipped to deal with the dangers of the wild. Since this is a spin-off, original characters Manny, Ellie, Sid, and Diego are unsurprisingly relegated to the background after their initial interactions with Crash and Eddie. ![]() The possums and the weasel team up to tackle the big-brained dinosaur. This leads them to meet Buckminster ‘Buck’ Wild (voiced by Simon Pegg), who is busy fending off Orson (voiced by Utkarsh Ambudkar) – a brainy triceratops who believes the dinosaurs should rule over mammals in the Lost World. They manage to stumble back into the Lost World – an underground tropical haven for mammals and dinosaurs first introduced in ‘Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs’ (2009). Possum brothers Crash (voiced by Vincent Tong) and Eddie (Aaron Harris) feel it’s time for them to branch out and find their own identity outside the pack.
